New “Forever” stamps and 1-cent price increases become effective on January 27
New prices, new stamps and new services are coming from the U.S. Postal Service. All of these changes will take effect on January 27, 2013. Major details on price and service changes are provided below. Details on these changes will also be available at the USPS website (www.usps.com). However, any business that uses a postage meter from Pitney Bowes doesn’t need to worry about adjusting to USPS changes, because the postage meter can receive automatic updates from the USPS.
Exact postage without going to the post office
A postage meter streamlines mailing and shipping operations in significant ways. Because your meter can update automatically, you never have to worry about paying too much or too little for postage. The built-in scale ensures accurate weighing, and the meter’s printer quickly prints proper postage and postmark details on envelopes or mailing labels. Time savings are huge because it’s no longer necessary for an employee to go to the post office and stand in line.
Managing your mail is easier with a postage meter
All postage meters are licensed and registered with the USPS; they must be leased rather than purchased. Pitney Bowes has a variety of postage meters available, with features designed to suit different business mailing needs. When you lease a postage meter, you can also get an online account that enables you to track mailing expenses for one or more business divisions, add more money to your meter as necessary, and even operate the meter from an online connection. Mailing supplies from Pitney Bowes can also be ordered quickly and easily through your online account –another feature that streamlines mailroom operations. Access to the meter is password-protected for security, and you can operate it at any time, not just during USPS hours.
Forever stamps from the USPS are always good for mailing a one-ounce letter anytime in the future regardless of price changes.
- Forever stamps for domestic mail. The new 46-cent Forever stamps are for mailing letters to any location in the United States.
- Global Forever stamps. For $1.10 you can buy a Forever stamp to mail a letter anywhere in the world.
